A Studio for Reuse

“Zero Waste” and “Circularity” are compelling visions, critical to human survival. Yet to make them real both today and into the future, we can’t just think different. We have to do different. And we must collaborate to close gaps in economic and physical infrastructure.

We are committed to Reuse as an action. It’s a muscle to exercise. An art to practice. And a community to nurture.

Earth, our blue marble in space, is already a zero waste world. Today we put unwanted materials out of sight: buried in sand, shipped to elsewhere, or ground into particles we can’t see.

At Reuse Studio, we are committed to bring materials into the open, examine our opportunities to positively shape the world around us, and make circularity actionable without excuses.

—————

Pragmatic not preachy.
Learn how to reuse, not just why to reuse.

Show and tell.
Reuse is possible and real. See it to believe it.

Leverage.
Infrastructure—digital, physical, & policy—is critical.

Catalysts and collaborators.
We spotlight and accelerate the work of others.

Our team combines on-the-ground experience in materials reuse with deep expertise in strategic design and innovation. We are united by a passion for stories that frame and inspire change.

Anne Nicklin, AIA, LEED AP, Founder and Principal, is a long-time leader and educator in the practice of deconstruction and building materials reuse. Anne initially trained and practiced as an Architect with a focus on LEED and sustainability. Beginning in 2007, first as a Board Member and later as Executive Director, Anne helped to shape the Building Materials Reuse Association (now known as Build Reuse), a trade group for organizations that recirculate construction products and materials. In 2018, Anne joined Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse (now Rebuilding Exchange) as Director of Workforce Training and Deconstruction Services. Anne is sought after as a speaker, educator, and adviser on the technical, process, and human dimensions of our transition to circular practices in the built environment.
